![]() ![]() To do so, please go to your terminal and type: brew install apache-spark Homebrew will now download and install Apache Spark, it may take some time depending on your internet connection. Step 3: Use Homebrew to install Apache Spark Once Java is downloaded please go ahead and install it locally. To install Java 8, please go to the official website: Then From “Java SE Development Kit 8u191” Choose: Mac OS X 圆4 245.92 MB jdk-8u191-macosx-圆4.dmg And Apache spark has not officially supported Java 10! Homebrew will install the latest version of Java and that imposes many issues! ![]() The latest version of Java (at time of writing this article), is Java 10. Step 3: DO NOT use Homebrew to install Java! xcode-select: error: unable to get active developer directory, use sudo xcode-select -switch path/to/Xcode.app to set one (or see man xcode-select) then install the command line tools (CLT) again: xcode-select -install then agree to it and it should download after a couple of minutes. Use the blow command in your terminal to install Xcode-select: xcode-select –install You usually get a prompt that looks something like this to go further with installation: You need to click “install” to go further with the installation. In order to install Java, and Spark through the command line we will probably need to install xcode-select. Xcode is a large suite of software development tools and libraries from Apple. usr/bin/ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL )" Step 2: Installing xcode-select In short you can install Homebrew in the terminal using this command: You can get Homebrew by following the instructions on its website. Git pull from command line works correctly. Homebrew makes installing applications and languages on a Mac OS a lot easier. Fetch failed: Could not read from remote repository. I am not really sure what you are trying to achieve, but the executable for the xcode-select is located in the /usr/bin. Here is an easy Step by Step guide to installing PySpark and Apache Spark on MacOS. I just think Apple does not care about small Developers.Development How to Install PySpark and Apache Spark on MacOS Ps Just to be clear, i appreciate the community for finding and publishing the solution. Solution found, but Apple's solution is not appreciated. I have already transitioned myself to a linux box, and i'm seriously thinking of moving my clients with me. I really don't like Apple's way of using our machines the way THEY want, not the way we want. If i wanted a package that big i would install the whole Xcode package and just hope that the client doesn't do anything destructive by mistake. Type it in yourself, again: with two dashes. Copy and pasting this will NOT work messes up the two dashes and turns them into a long dash. dmg is ~435MB, and the installer used >2.4GB disk space! What?! I only want the CLT. Use two dashes for the xcode-select flag, like install not -install. ![]() i went to the Apple Developer site and downloaded the CLT and now brew works again.īut, here's the thing. Whatever my fooling around was before i am failing to "just do it". Usage: xcode-select options Print or change the path to the active developer directory. Now i'm trying to get brew to work on another Catalina machine. Referring to the help text, running xcode-select -r will reset xcode, which may help with install-time issues. I thought, "this will never happen again" because i didn't realize it was a widespread phenomenon, and forgot about it. ![]() Eventually, i have no idea what i did, CLT was installed. Do find out, Id like to use the Xcode 7 beta 5 version of xcodebuild to see if any now command line swtiches were added. I had this problem on another Catalina machine, about a month ago, and i went back and forth between "xcode-select -install" and deletions. So Im trying to determine if xcodebuild will allow creating thinned app variants from the command line. If, however, it does not work the first time there is little chance it will work on a second attempt. This is extraordinary - not in a good way! Whenever you run install.packages('something') and you are greeted by 'a binary version is available but a source version is later', you may, if you choose, select the option to install from source and that might work. ![]()
